2 Month Update

Harper,
You are now 2 months old! It is so hard to believe how fast time has gone by. This month you have grown so much. We went to your 2 month appointment and your pediatrician, Dr. Craft, said you were perfect. You weighed 9 lbs 8 oz and 22 inches in length. You are growing and changing everyday. You will never understand how much of a blessing you are to me and your father. You are a joy and light up our life like you wouldn't imagine. You are my little miracle, and you are loved more then you can even fathom.

This past month has been amazing. You have the cutest and sweetest personality. The only time you cry is when you are hungry or wet. I am really hoping that means you will be easy to pottytrain since you hate having a dirty diaper.( We will see :).

You are also trying to talk to us now. You are constantly making "cooing" and high pitch sounds that sound like you are trying to say "hi." You are smiling now which is beautiful. You smile every-time we talk to you, touch your nose, or tickle your checks. It just melts my heart when you make them.

You are currently sleeping 5 to 6 hours a night. Your pediatrician said that anything past 4 hours a night for a baby your age is just luck. So, my sweetie I guess we lucked out and got a wonderful baby! I really hope this continues since you are now starting to get a good schedule established.

I want you to know that I love having you as my daughter. I am so in love with everything you do and you bring me joy everyday. I really love all the " mother -daughter" time we get and I treasure every moment. You are definitely my best accessory since I get way more attention with you than my Louis Vuitton :)..We are always getting stopped by friends and strangers saying how cute you are.

Harper Nicole, I want you to know that we are so in love and cannot wait to see what month 3 bring us!

With love always,
Mom

Midweek Confessions

I have been really terrible about blogging in the last week..However, I am so happy to start back with my Midweek Confessions... Be sure to link up

~ Yesterday, I updated a post and promised to do Harper's 2 month update..Yet, once again I got side tracked and did not have enough time to do the post..So, I apologize..

~ I feel like such a bad mom but I do sometimes prop up Harper's bottle with a blanket so I can get some stuff done around the house.
This is NOT Harper but another baby with a towel propped to hold the bottle..
~ I have started my new job for a marketing company and have enjoyed working from home and being with Harper. However, it is not as "sweet" as you would think because I still am working and caring for Harper at the same time. So, I pretty much am at my computer while feeding or taking care of Harper .I mean, I do not want to complain about working from home but I am so busy that I still have no time for anything else except for her and my work...So, my house, laundry, dishes they will just have to wait until I  have more time or a maid..haha
This is how I feel on a daily basis :)
~ I never thought I would say this but Harper has really replaced Lilly as my first love for a child or dog. My friends used to tell me to wait to see how I would feel about Lilly when I had Harper yet I never believed them.  I really never thought I could love someone more than my pup but I do.. Harper just takes my breath away and I cannot express how much I love her. However, Lilly will always have a piece of my heart but Harper has a little  more...

~ I am so happy that it is GOLF season! We were able to actually take Harper out to the golf course on Saturday and get 18 holes of golf in while she slept..And I shot my best round yet, a 94..( I know that this is not great but for me it is).. I had 3 pars and my very first birdie so I was happy!

Happy Easter!

This Easter Weekend we traveled to my hometown of Winchester, Virginia. It always so nice to come home and see my family. This time it was extra special since it was Harper's first time there.

Our little Harper Bunny!
We arrived in Winchester on Friday afternoon for lunch and a round of golf with my brother and dad at our local country club while my mom watched Harper. It was so much fun to get out and play golf. My brother and I always challenge each other with a match but this time we decided to just have fun, since there was a lot of wind making it pretty tough golf conditions. Will however, was not that impacted on the day shooting his best round at the course.

That evening Bryan brought out his guitar and played songs to Harper. She loved all the music and singing. All she did was stare and make noises throughout his performance. She really enjoys Jimmy Buffetts songs the best!

On Saturday, we ate lunch at one of my favorite hometown spots, Brewbakers. It has really good food and drinks. My favorite is their chili. This restaurant is a must if you ever eat in Winchester or are in town for the Apple Blossom Festival.

After lunch, we all went to my grandparents for Harper's first visit. My grandparents were in Naples , Florida for the winter season were not around when Harper was born, so this was their first time meeting her. We had such a wonderful visit with my family and they all loved meeting Harper. She was a doll the whole time sleeping on my Aunt Sharon's arm.

Sunday was a very special day since, it was Harper's first Easter. It was so wonderful! To begin the day we dressed Harper in her very first Easter dress.  Since, Harper is still very small we were only able to find one dress in her newborn size. Believe it or not, after shopping at every children's store we found her dress at Target. She looked so cute in it! I will definitely be looking at Target for more future clothing purchases.( for Harper :)

Then my whole family  took Harper to her first church service. This was special since this was the church I grew up in and where Will and I were married. Harper did great! During the whole service Harper slept and did not make a sound. I think all the noises and music made her sleep better. After church we enjoyed a very nice Eater brunch at my parent's club , Winchester Country Club.

After lunch, we exchange Easter cards and said our goodbyes with everyone. We decided to leave in the afternoon to ensure that we would be able to see the last few holes of The Masters at home. It was a great ending to a wondeful weekend to see Bubba Watson win the tournament.

As you can see Harper was very exhausted form her holiday weekend!

Myrtle Beach Days..

The rest of our vacation was very enjoyable. We were able to visit with Will's two Aunt's, June and Connie, who were also in Myrtle Beach. They were kind enough to babysit Harper on Sunday while we got play golf  with our friend, Mike.

It was such a nice day to get out and enjoy the nice weather, since the temperature was 80 and the sun was shining bright. The golf course we played was The Wizard and it was beautiful. Will played really well shooting a 69 while I shot a 101 which was not too bad for me, since I haven't played golf in 6 months. I think that my new clubs have added to my game and helped me improve. However, I really do I hope to improve more by getting some golf lessons.

I did NOT go into the water once..yay
There were 3 water holes and I stayed out of all of them :)
Beautiful 18 hole
To thank Will's Aunts for watching Harper we decided to take them out to dinner on Monday evening. They were wanting seafood so we went to a little fishing town, Calabash in North Carolina. This town has the BEST seafood restaurants I have ever been to. Everything that you eat is fresh and right off the fishing boats. They also have these amazing hush-puppies that are to die for.( When I was 4 months pregnant, I went through 2 baskets of hush-puppies all by myself )
Hush-puppy Crusher ( This is when I was pregnant)

The restaurant we went to is called Captain Nance's. This restaurant is surrounded by four other seafood restaurants that have very similar menus and all are excellent ( Been tested personally by yours truly :)..I would highly recommend making the trip to this little fishing town.

The white paper in this photo is the hush-puppy basket. As you can see, it is in arms reach :)

On Tuesday, we finished our vacation with a little shopping at the outlet mall. Then, we made our 5 hour trip back to Virginia. The trip was so much more enjoyable coming back than going to Myrtle. The room in the van is wonderful. I was able to climb in the back to feed Harper and change her with no problem. So,I think we made the right choice.

When we got home I decided to go to the grocery store to get some much needed items for the week. While, Will was unpacking all of our stuff I decided to take Harper with me to the store. She loved it! She was wide awake and looking at all the lights and colorful display signs the whole time. Our grocery store has built in car seats to their carts which make it so easy to have children with you. As you can see, Harper enjoyed her trip to the store!

Midweek Confessions

Well, another week has come and gone and it's Wednesday again..So, you know what that means..

~ Since, I have had Harper I have lost a total of 20 pounds ( I gained a total of 30 ) so I need to lose 10 more to be back to my "normal" size. However, each time I try to start a diet we go to Mexican or get pizza from some place. So , I need to really stick to it so I fit into my swimsuit in 2 months.

~ It is funny how much time it takes to get ready to go somewhere with a baby. It takes me about twice as long to get anywhere which this is not good for me, since I am always running behind.

~ I cannot wait to start tanning.. I know that it is so bad to go to tanning salons but I just love having a base tan. I just feel better, look better, and have more energy when I am tan. So, I am starting next week to get some color on my legs :)

~ I feel like I have become the neighborhood watchdog. Since, I am up with Harper odd hours of the night I have started to notice that there is always weird cars going up and down our street. Last night, a guy was driving on our street at 4 am with his lights on inside his car and was swerving all over the road. So, I took down his car description in case I see that car again. So, people better watch out on my street since I will be taking note :)

~ I only have had time to read one book this year and that is an improvement previous years. It is not because I don't like to read but more of just getting distracted and not able to finish the book in a timely fashion. When I taught, I was always busy reading student essays or books for class and during the summer I would get distracted by outdoor activities, like golf or reading gossip magazines. For example, for 2  summers in a row I read Eat, Love& Pray and never was able to finish it. I do not know if was because I got bored with the book or just got busy. However, this year I read an excellent book, The Fortunes Rock by Anita Shreve and finished it in two weeks. I am hoping to start reading Nicholas Sparks new book, The Best of Me. ( We will see how long this takes me :)...

~ We are headed to my hometown for Easter so Harper can meet her great grandparents. It is so wonderful that she is going to be able to meet them, since many people do not have that opportunity with their great grandparents. I feel so blessed to have my family close to me and to be able to meet our little girl.

Now it's your turn..Link up and tell your confessions

I'm Still Cool... Even Though I Own A Van

Well, we did it! We traded in the 4Runner for a Mini Van!
2012 Toyota Sienna
This was a very sentimental but great move for us a family. After months of discussing our options, we finally decided to take the plunge and get the family van. Since, this was my third 4Runner I had a very hard time with saying goodbye to my vehicle.
Saying goodbye to my 4Runner years!
However, after I learned I needed new tires last week (which would cost around $1,000.) and the jammed packed SUV we had going to the beach we decided that this was our best option. See, we are not an ordinary couple with one child. We travel with both our golf clubs, our Lab Lilly, a crate for Lilly, Harper, a stroller, a pack-n-play,etc. So, a van has all the necessary room we need. . We figure that this is a vehicle we will be able to grow in to , since we do plan on having other children. We compared the Honda and Toyota vans for months and decided on the Toyota Sienna XLE. It had many options that suited us as a family. We also considered a larger SUV like a Sequoia or the large Infinity SUV and to be honest, those SUVs are overpriced with terrible gas mileage. So, now we are officially van owners.
