Monday Morning Surprise

Are you hungry yet?

Anyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a morning person. Thankfully, I have never had to teach a first period class in the last 4 years.  I love to sleep in, drink lots and lots of coffee and wake up over a few hours. However, with my job that is not really possible everyday. 


Today my morning was welcomed with a great surprise which brightened my whole day! One of my previous students, who is currently a senior, asked me to write him a recommendation letter for James Madison University. I have discussed with my students my love for this particular doughnut shop in our town. I guess this student paid attention to my comments because he brought me my favorite doughnut from my favorite doughnut shop Blue Collar Joes.


Now, let me explain that this is no ordinary doughnut shop. This shop has been on ranked top 10 doughnuts shops on the Food Network, featured on the Travel Channel, and has been featured in this article on Fox News-Extreme Doughnuts. These doughnuts are not your ordinary chocolate or glaze doughnuts.  They are speciality doughnuts. My favorite is the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast which is a blueberry doughnut with maple icing encrusted with bacon shavings. Let me just say that this is to die for. 

The funny thing is that before I was pregnant I was never really big on sweets. However, our little girl has changed this for me. I now love sweets and have actually even had dreams about these doughnuts! :) Needless to say, the student who brought me this doughnut is going to get an excellent recommendation (which he would had anyways) since he not only brought me one of these doughnuts but my favorite.
