Our Pregnancy Journey up to Week 26

Pregnancy has been very enjoyable for the most part. Currently, I am at week 26. It has been a long journey that seems to becoming to an end very soon. Actually, I am now worried about how soon it is approaching since we need to still get the baby's room ready. So, to catch you up to date, I will give you a brief synopsis of our my little adventure in pregnancy.

My first 3 months of pregnancy were full of nothing but morning sickness and severe headaches. Since, my doctor did not have an open appointment until week 8 , I had to suffer all that time without the miracle drug, Zofran. For anyone who experiences morning sickness I highly suggest getting this prescription. At our week 8 appointment, we were able to confirm that we were having a baby by hearing the heartbeat and seeing a tiny little image. It was so amazing to see our baby.

At my 13 week appointment, Will and I were able to have another ultrasound done which was so eye opening.  We were able to actually see the baby up close thanks to the 3D / 4D ultrasound. It was amazing! We could actually see the hands, feet, and the entire body of the baby. We asked the ultrasound tech. if she new the sex of the baby. She said that she was not 100 % sure but she was very certain that it was a little boy. She did tell us not to go out and buy a bunch of blue but to start looking for boy names. Needless to say, we were thrilled. Now, we do not care if we have a boy or girl just as long as our baby is healthy. The reason I must know the sex of the baby is because I am too much of a planner. I want to have a girl/boy nursery and register for items specific for that gender. I also want to narrow down names since teaching has made me make numerous good/bad correlations to students whom I have taught. After the ultrasound, I then had to get those lovely tests run on the health of the baby which meant that I would have four valves of blood drawn. This was not the most enjoyable part of my pregnancy by any means. I'm really hoping labor is much easier because I did not handle this too well..hahah.

The time finally came, at the end of September, for our week 20 ultrasound. We knew that we were going to definitely find out our baby's sex and get our test results back on the baby's health. Our ultrasound was amazing. Our baby was doing flips and moving the entire time. We were also able to see the baby's arms, legs, big feet, toes, heart, lungs, and all the features developed so far. Our tech. asked if we wanted to know the sex of our baby and what we thought it was. We said that we wanted to know and that we had been told at the previous appointment is was a BOY!. She laughed and stated that it was not a boy but a very healthy little GIRL!

It's a GIRL!
At that moment, she kept showing us the proof of our little girl. We got so excited and emotional to finally know what we were having. We also got back great news that all the tests had come back and our baby girl was healthy and perfect. This was a day that I will never forget.

Four weeks later,we had one of our last and final ultrasounds at week 24. During this appointment, we were able to have a dvd made of our ultrasound. During the ultrasound,  we were able see all of her features, vital organs, and her up close profile thanks to the 3d/4d feature. The cutest thing we saw this day was her sucking her thumb and having her feet crossed. She was also moving her arms and consistently putting her hands near her face. We loved that she was sucking her thumb because when I was a baby I actually sucked my thumb. She not only took after me on this but with it being an early morning appointment she was sleeping through the whole ultrasound. Which I love to sleep in and do not enjoy early mornings either :).

Currently, I am at week 26. We have decided on a first name which was hard to come up with since I teach so many girls and had a hard time narrowing down the names. We have decided on the name Harper. We are still working on a middle name but I will reveal it as soon as we narrow down our choices. Right now, Harper is consistently moving and kicking. Her favorite time of the day to move is in the evening when I am laying on the couch or bed and when I'm sleeping. I think that I am going to have my work cut out for me in the future because she does seem to be quite the night owl.

So, that pretty much catches you up on our little journey in pregnancy. Don't worry I will add more about my pregnancy each week.
